Well I’m back. There is always mixed emotions when you return home from a vacation. I missed my children, and our puppy. And I really do miss the people I work with and of course my friends. But I could have easily stayed a bit longer.
We are big picture takers when we go anywhere, especially southwest Florida. So I thought I would share my four days by using mostly photos and some notes here and there.
Day One – We arrived in Naples around 6:00 p.m. and went straight to dinner at Steamers (my favorite local restaurant) for some blackened grouper. It was so so good. And then caught sunset – my number one thing to do down there.

Day Two – Went back down to the Naples Pier to spend some time on the beach. After about two hours, we saw a big fish jump at the end of the pier. About 15 minutes later, we saw it again. And again in another 10 minutes. I told my husband that I bet someone caught it on the pier and is trying to reel it in. Sure enough, a man had hooked a tarpon, estimated at 150 lbs. There were a group of people surrounding him as he fought hard to bring the fish in. I bet he fought it for at least 60 minutes, even went up and down the pier trying to capture it. In the end, the line broke and the “big one” escaped.

Of course we ate good that day too and watched sunset from Clam Pass Beach.

Day Three - We ventured up to Venice to go shark tooth hunting. It was an average hunt – I found 50. My husband found 15 and then lost them in the gulf. The surf was rough that day. The waves were very strong, sometimes knocking you over. That made it harder to hunt for the teeth.

Day Four – Said goodbye to the gulf and all the wonderful sunsets and seafood.
