I have a sister-in-law who is the most organized person I know. (My oldest daughter is a close second) For this trip, she took it upon herself to write a daily schedule for everyone called Duck Patter – A daily guide to activities by your family OBX director Crystal. I thought I would share today’s Patter with you:
Today is a day at the pool so we will all be rested and ready by 4:15 p.m. for a big evening at Coquina Beach where we will celebrate Grandma and Grandpa’s 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their wedding vows on the beach. We will leave the beach houses promptly at 4:30 p.m. From there, we will stop and pick up the flowers at the florist (thank you Cheri!) From the florists we will meet the pastor at Coqunia Beach at 5:30 p.m. (Thank you Jay!) Don’t forget to wear your white shirts and blue jeans. (Bring the powder blue shirts for the great-grandkids and Jayme for the large group picture) After the ceremony and pictures, we will caravan to Tale of the Whale, a delicious seafood dinner. When we return, if it is not too late, we will have family devotions and a movie.
8:00 a.m. Meet at Serendipity House for a run or walk on the beach (your choice)
10:00 French Toast Casserole prepared by your OBX Director available for your dining pleasure at Serendipity House
10:30 Family pool time at Dolphin Watch House
Lunch – at your leisure (we suggest the kids take a nap and a bath after lunch so we don’t have cranky kids; the same goes for any cranky adults!)
4:15 Meet in the beach houses’ parking lots to leave promptly at 4:30. Meet pastor at Coquina Beach at 5:30, photographer at 5:45, ceremony followed by pictures at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner at Tale of the Whale at 8:00 p.m.
Congratulations Mom and Dad on 50 years of marriage. You are an encouragement to us all!
She also wrote about Coquina Beach, which is considered to be the loveliest beach in the Outer Banks, and said that tonight’s movie in Duck Theatre is The Pink Panther. And her daily scripture for today is: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices withthe truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 COR. 13: 4-7
There you have it – my schedule for today. Thank you Crystal – someone needed to whip this family of 28 into shape.
