Although it is the week for carving up turkey, at Salt Fork Lodge something else was being carved up – pumpkin!
I had to travel just outside of Cambridge last week for my job and as I walked up to the front of the Lodge, this man (owner of the prized pumpkin) was using some sort of saw (I think I would like to own one) to carve up this huge pumpkin.
When I asked where he was going to take these large pieces of pumpkin to, he told me that he spreads them around the Park, as deer and other wildlife love them.
I liked that answer. What a great use for this no-longer-wanted vegetable.
