What A Dork

No, I’m not talking about Savannah, my daughter. I am talking about me. Just dropped her off at Denison University for a 4 day leadership conference and am teary-eyed.

Get a grip, Cheri.

Not sure if it was because I helped her set up her dorm room or because I had to actually say good-bye. No matter, I am such a dork.

I will be a total wreck when she leaves for college, which is in two years.

Jeez.

Leaders

Congrats to our middle daughter, Heather, for her second year in National Junior Honor Society. These are the future leaders of our country, so I am pleased that they are learning about leadership at a young age.

Pictured here are Sam, Heather and Vinnie. What a great group of students!

Always a Bridesmaid. . .

Feeling a lot like a bridesmaid tonight.

I attended the Ohio Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Chamber Day today. Actually there were about a dozen of us that went from our community.

It was a fun day, but I was disappointed, more than once.

The Ohio Chamber recognized local chambers from across the state for their advocacy efforts. They started it four years ago and here is where we ended up: second, second, second and now third.  I know we should be happy that we made the top three every year that have been doing this, but I’m not a number two kinda girl.

Then to make matters worse, I nominated a local company for their entrepreneurship award. Good news is that they were selected as a finalist. Bad news – they came in second. Did I mention that I’m not a number two kind of girl?

I don’t want to seem unappreciative, because I am certainly proud of our chamber and its members. I simply want to be number one, that’s all.

It’s a simple request, really.

I’ve obviously got some work do to. Night night.

Family

Today we celebrated Mother’s Day at our place, surrounded by family. My kids love it when we have a house full of family. My mom and dad went up to Cleveland to see my brother, so we missed them.

But in addition to the five of us, we are enjoying the company of Tom and Penny; Tammy and Todd; TJ and Jacqueline; Tessa and Jarrord and of course Trei.

Jay has been busy showing everyone our pics from Italy while Heather is getting some expert advice from Tessa on a design project she is doing from school. Jayme and Trei are outside shooting Hoops and the guys are busy watching Memphis Grizziles vs. LA Clippers. As for me, well I have a sink full of dishes to do, which I don’t mind at all.

This is my ideal Mother’s Day, surrounded by family.

Eat What You Want

Today, according to John over at Foodimentary, is National Eat What You Want Day.

His posts are always interesting to me.  Today he also lists the top 5 foods in the US:

  1. French Fries
  2. Hamburgers
  3. Fried Chicken
  4. Eggs
  5. Pizza

Yep. I agree with that.

Today,  just like every other day in my world, I am going to eat what I want. Thanks for giving me permission John.
