Quote of the Day

“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”

– Rachel Carson

Quote of the Day

Direct quote from my eight-year-old:

“I wish daddy was way older than you so he could make the rules”.

See, there are advantages to being the older spouse.

P.S. – The next sentence out of her mouth went like this:  “You try to make people cry, don’t you?”  My response:  “Everyday”.  She didn’t find that very funny.  I did.

Time Flies

July 1 – the walk-up call that the year is half over.  What happened to the first half of 2009?  My 12 year-old daughter remarked recently that time seems to go by faster and faster each year.  I just smiled and said “wait until you are 40.”

My youngest daughter, who is seven, is at a sleep-over tonight.  And it just occurred to me that this is the first time she has spent the night with someone other than family.  I can’t believe I didn’t think about it until now. Wow.

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot. “
